Embassy of Grenada

to the United States of America – Washington, District of Columbia

The diplomatic mission of Grenada in Washington, D.C. in addition to its bilateral responsibilities with the United States of America, also has a major multilateral role, representing Grenada’s interests in the Americas as the Permanent Mission of Grenada to the Organization of American States (OAS).

Grenada is one of the 35 Member States of the OAS, having joined on May 15, 1975, signing and ratifying the OAS Charter. This is the forum where Government representatives from the Western Hemisphere or “the Americas” come together to strengthen their relationships and forge agreements on cooperation in a broad range of areas, principally: democracy, security, human rights, and development.

The Ambassador is the Permanent Representative of Grenada to the Organization. Grenada has held several leadership positions within the OAS over the years. The chairmanship of the Permanent Council rotates automatically every 3 months among the Member States in alphabetical order.
