GNN Meeting Tonight! – 2nd Youth Happy Hour with the Ambassador

Grenada Nutmeg Network (GNN) is a youth group aimed at creating proactive engagement between the youth in the Diaspora and the youth in Grenada. At the first GNN meeting in February, new GNN members eagerly expressed their willingness to come together and pool resources and ideas for the benefit of the fellow youth in Grenada.

Tonight from 7pm to 9pm the GNN will be holding its second meeting with Ambassador Bristol at the Embassy to discuss the areas of need in Grenada, objectives for the GNN and a plan of action.

Improved Security at Richmond Hill Prison

“Fourteen young men have now joined the ranks of Her Majesty’s Prisons to help improve the security and operations at the facility. The fourteen newly recruited prison officers were welcomed on Tuesday, during an orientation ceremony, at which the senior management team at the prison and officials from the Ministry of National Security, provided an overview of their responsibilities and the operations of the prison service.” Full story here

3.5 Million Dollars for Community Projects in Grenada

“The Grenada government will inject 3.5 million dollars  into community projects in Grenada, one of which is the St. George’s Market Square project. The money will come from Venezuela who’s Vice Minister for Latin and America and the Caribbean and Energy Maria Jacqueline Mendoza made the commitment during a meeting with Prime Minister Tillman Thomas.” Full story here

Grenada’s Commissioner of Police Chairs OAS Counter-Terrorism Meeting

“Embassy of Grenada, Washington, D. C. March 18, 2011 Grenada is presiding a one day meeting of national experts on counter-terrorism at the Organization of American States (OAS).  Commissioner of Police, James Clarkson, Grenada’s National Point of Contact to the Inter-American Committee against Terrorism, opened the meeting calling on all member states “to move in a positive direction of strengthening cooperation in the fight against terrorism.” ” (read more…)

OAS Permanent Council Hosts Grenada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs

“The Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS) today held a special session with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, Environment and Export Development of Grenada, Karl I. J. Hood, who stressed the need to maintain a constructive dialogue in the continent in order to strengthen the role of the hemispheric organization.” Full story here
