Independence Message from Her Excellency Yolande Y. Smith on the Occasion of the 45th Anniversary of Independence of Grenada

It is a great honor to bring you greetings on the 45th Anniversary of the independence of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique. This milestone achievement is being celebrated under the theme “Celebrating 45 Years Building Resilience and Enhancing Social & Economic Transformation”

We commend the members of our Diaspora communities on the tremendous level of engagement and we applaud the gallant efforts of the Grenada associations throughout the United States of America. Continue to strategically partner with the Embassy and with civic organizations at home, to ensure that your philosophy, mission, vision, purpose and projects are shared, and that your contributions are felt where they are most needed. You all play a pivotal role in the overall development of our tri-island state.

We recognize our Grenadian businessmen and women, and friends of Grenada for your philanthropy and the donations you make towards improving the healthcare and other systems on the island. To the many volunteers, we appreciate your time and service. Thanks to all of you for the valuable contributions you make on a daily basis here in your adopted homeland; your contributions, both at home and abroad, are appreciated and well documented.

The staff of the Embassy of Grenada, the Consulate Generals in Miami and New York, celebrate with all Grenadians and remain resolute in our commitment to serving Grenada with respect, tolerance, dignity and determination.

As we attend the various activities to commemorate this anniversary, we wish you a joyous independence celebration and prosperous year ahead.

Please be advised that the office will be closed from Monday, December 24th 2018 to Tuesday, January 1st 2019.

Normal office hours will resume on Wednesday, January 2nd 2019 at 9:00 a.m.

New ePassport system for Grenada

URGENT NOTICE

The Consulate of Grenada, Washington, DC wishes to inform all Grenadian Nationals that the Government of Grenada, Carriacou & Petite Martinique will be transitioning to the new ePassport effective 16th July 2018.  A Caribbean Community Grenada Passport issued under the Passports (Fees) Regulations, Chapter 226 prior to 16th July 2018 shall continue to be valid pursuant to the provisions of these Regulations until the date of expiration of the passport, unless cancelled or withdrawn in accordance with section 3 of the Passports Act, Chapter 226.

As of close of business 6th July 2018 processing of Grenada passports has been temporarily suspended to allow for the transition at the Immigration and Passport Department in Grenada.  Passports received after this date will be subject to the new rules, regulations and fees of the new ePassport system.

During the week 9th– 13th July 2018 passport applications will not be processed at the Immigration and Passport Department in Grenada, as the new systems are put in place.  Any passport application received at the following locations will be held and forwarded to Grenada during the week of 16th July 2018:

  1. Consulate of Grenada, Washington, DC
  2. Consulate General of Grenada – New York, and
  3. Consulate General of Grenada – Miami

In 2023, all passports issued by the Immigration and Passport Department in Grenada will be machine-readable ePassports – a biometric/digital passport, enhanced with an embedded electronic microprocessor, which is distinguished by a logo on the front cover.  This microprocessor will be used to obtain data that will authenticate the identity of the passport holder for security purposes and ease of travel.

The new fee for the ePassports within the United States will be US$175.00.  The fee for Lost/Stolen/Damaged passports within the United States will be US$350.00.

The Consulate of Grenada, Washington, DC apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused during this transition period and looks forward to working with the Diaspora to meet your needs once the new ePassport system is in place.

Closure of Consulate for the Holiday Season

Dear Nationals/Visitors,

The Consulate of Grenada, Washington, DC will be closed for the Holiday Season from 13th December 2017 to 3rd January 2018. Please have all your passport and visa needs to the Consulate by 12th December 2017 in order to have them processed.  Should you need Consular services after this, the Consulate of Grenada – Miami (305-570-2716 or www.grenadaconsulatemiami.org) will be opened until 22nd December 2017 and will re-open on 2nd January 2018.

Thanksgiving Closure for the Embassy, Consulate, Mission and High Commission

The Embassy of Grenada to the United States of America, the Consulate, the Permanent Mission of Grenada to the Organization of American States and the High Commission of Grenada to Canada in Washington, DC, will be closed to the public on Thursday, 23rd and Friday 24th November 2017 in observance of the United States’ Thanksgiving Holiday.

The Embassy of Grenada to the United States of America, the Consulate, the Permanent Mission of Grenada to the Organization of American States and the High Commission of Grenada to Canada in Washington, DC, will re-open to the public on Monday, 27th November 2017 at 9:00 a.m.

The Ambassador and Staff of the Embassy of Grenada to the United States of America, the Consulate, the Permanent Mission of Grenada to the Organization of American States and the High Commission of Grenada to Canada in Washington, DC extend a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving to everyone.

The Consulate in Washington, DC is CLOSED until 25 September, 2017

The Consulate in Washington, DC will be closed from Monday, August 28, 2017 until Monday, September 25, 2017.

Please forward all applications to the Consulate General of Grenada in Miami, Florida for processing.
